That evening, Alex walked in with a very tall, handsome man by his side. I was mesmerized by how gorgeous he was. He was tall, much taller than Alex was, and his eyes were strange, with rings of green, gold, and gray. They struck me as odd and so unique. I stood there, staring into the kaleidoscope pattern of his irises, and felt myself melt away.

His flawless skin was a perfect contrast to his dark hair—and those lips, I’ve seen those lips; I remember wanting to kiss them. He dressed as if he regularly rode a motorcycle. Rugged jeans, a snug fitting T-shirt that hugged his sculpted hard body, boots, and a leather jacket. His added height made him look good enough to eat. I was helpless as his eyes stayed riveted on mine, and I felt him search my soul. There was something familiar about him that made my heart beat faster the longer we gazed at each other.

“Megan, let me introduce you to Emilian Leonhardt.” Alex’s words were no match for the hypnotic spell Emilian had me in. As Emilian took my hand in his, for what I thought would be a handshake, my thoughts unwound from my problems and I wondered what it would be like kissing him. I wanted him sensually and sexually. Without breaking eye contact, he bent over and kissed my hand.

Everything went into slow motion. The kiss broke my concentration. I closed my eyes and felt a rush of emotions. I wanted to laugh, cry, and faint at the same time; then my head began to ache.

“Pleasure, Megan,” Emilian said.

I felt a little uncomfortable after our initial stare-down for what felt like minutes, and I deliberately avoided further eye contact. I noted he had an ever-so-slight accent. When I reopened my eyes, I saw Emilian still staring at me, and I could feel his eyes all over me. I looked past him.

“Nice to meet you, Emilian.” I spoke breathlessly.

He just smiled at me, but there was something carnal behind it. I pulled my hand away from him and took a step back, finding it hard to breathe as long as my hand touched his. I looked down at my two-day-old clothes and envisioned my matted hair. I don’t know why I cared about my appearance all of a sudden. In my peripheral vision, I noticed a pained look wash over Alex’s face.
